Live questions and answers session
At the end of our webinars, we answer questions our attendees have asked throughout the session. Here’s the list of questions we received during this webinar session. There were too many to answer in the live webinar but we made sure to get back to everyone who asked a question immediately.
- “Does the performance of the continuous solid phase extractor drop during a run? How is the solid phase regenerated?”
- “Can I perform parallel reaction, using 3 microreactors at the same time, for example”
- “It is possible to perform Peptide Synthesis, using Flow Chemistry? Until now it's the only kind of reaction that I don't see yet”
- “Using pressure regulators creates overheated liquid at the point the liquid exits the reactor. How do you deal with that?”
- “I have a very specific question. I am working with flow microreactors on silicon chips. What are the best options of chemically resistant fluidic interconnects for microfluidic chips that have a small dead volume? Which interfacing techniques do you prefer and are there any specific products (e.g. microports, ...) that you could recommend?”
- “What are the advantages of a back pressure regulator? Or why and in which cases is it necessary?”
- “Which options do you have for in-line analytics? Is it possible to integrate them in a system (e.g. with LabVIEW) to build a self-optimizing reactor network? What are their limits of detection (LOD)?”
- “So, if I don't intend to have temperatures above the solvent's boiling point and if I don't use or generate gases in my reactions, I do not necessarily need a BPR, do I?”
- “Are there any options for product collectors that can handle small volumes (microliters) of product solution? Like something of the inverse of a HPLC autosampler?”
- “How do you determine when a continuous stirred-tank reactor (CSTR) is required”
- “How do you sure that the reagent are mixed completely?”
- “How to separate the organic phase and aq phase for extraction in flow chemistry? Do you use the membrane?”
- “How do you manage to perform reactions under inert conditions?”
- “For scale up, if you are using PTFE coil how it will give same Overall heat transfer coefficient? As thermal conductivity of PTFE is low.”
- “What is the down side of flow chemistry?”
- “If I would like to use a catalyst for my reaction how I would be sure it is completely interacting with reagents and how I will recover it from the mixture?”
